Robert Latorre

Fresh off the much-lauded Super Bowl spot for Diana Pearl starring Mike Ditka, William “The Refrigerator” Perry, Jim McMahon and Dennis Rodman, Robert Latorre has taken the commercial world by storm since moving from commercial food photography and tabletop to live-action directing. He has turned 28 years as an award-winning professional photographer into an equally-successful career as a commercial director known for his unique dramatic lighting, directorial approach and extensive work with celebrities. ADWEEK has twice chosen Latorre as Commercial Film Director of the Year and Creative All-Star Photographer.

In 1995, Latorre, became fascinated with the frozen moment and ways to capture this distinctive look for commercials. He set out to do what no one had done before and created the effect known as The Big Freeze by configuring over 700 still cameras in the world’s largest camera-array system. The technology won him the acclaimed Clio Award for Special Effects and an Emmy Award nomination. Currently there are five working Big Freeze systems in London, South Africa, the United States and Canada.
