Blazing Music+Sound Hires Sound Engineer Michel Marrano
RALEIGH, N.C. (May 4, 2009) – Michel Marrano has joined Blazing Music+Sound as a sound engineer, working primarily on mixing and sound design for the company’s broadcast TV work including Jon & Kate Plus 8 and 18 Kids and Counting. Marrano will also serve Blazing’s advertising agency, film, and video game clients.
Marrano came to Blazing Music+Sound from Playmakers Repertory Company in Chapel Hill where she was the resident sound designer for three years. While at Playmakers, she also taught sound design at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Marrano has held positions in sound design and audio supervision at East Carolina University’s Loessin Theatre, Triad Stage in Greensboro and Vermont’s Weston Playhouse Theatre.
With bachelor’s degrees in Theatre and Sociology from the State University of New York at Geneseo and an MFA in sound design from the North Carolina School of the Arts, Marrano did a residency with Aura Sound Design in London. There she worked at the Royal National Theatre and several West End playhouses.
“We’re delighted to have Michel join our team as we expand our audio capacity,” said Eric Johnson, executive producer at Blazing Music+Sound. “She’s quickly made the transition from the theater environment to the broadcast and spot work she’s doing now. Her background gives her the amazing ability and diplomacy to be flexible, work with multiple stakeholders and put clients at ease.
“We’re also please to have a woman in our midst,” Johnson said. “The audio post industry has traditionally been male dominated. It’s nice to have a woman on our team to give us a broader perspective.”
