As the saying goes, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” Or one woman’s trash, in the case of Scripps Networks LLC’s new pilot set to premiere April 10 on Great American Country network.
An original documentary-style formatted show, “Minnesota Salvage” follows professional junker Heather Fisher as she shares the thrill of the hunt and the satisfaction of transforming worn-out furniture and accessories into treasures for customers of her repurposed furniture store, Salvage Sisters. The half-hour feature, produced by Trailblazer Studios, captures Heather’s distinctive sense of style and leads viewers step by step through the process of bringing her aesthetic vision to life.
“As an interior designer, Heather is an expert in transforming pieces that might otherwise be headed to the landfill,” says the show’s producer, Beth Glover. “She knows exactly how to delight her customers with original, one-of-a-kind pieces while turning a profit for her store.”
With the help of her closest friends and her eccentric mother, Heather takes viewers on a journey through local flea markets and abandoned buildings, with small-town Mankato, Minn., as the backdrop. Once back in her studio with their fabulous finds, the team isn’t afraid to get their hands dirty. From scrubbing a smoky old hutch to sanding, painting and completely re-designing a bright purple dresser, they tackle each DIY project with a whatever-it-takes attitude.
Says Heather, “To be able to make a living doing something that feeds your soul – I love it!”
